Sokka grew up without remembering his mother’s face. That has as much to do with her death when he was younger as it does with the fact his younger sister, Katara, took over as the lady in charge. Sokka similarly took up the reigns of the man of the house when their father left the village due to his line of work, leaving the children behind in the care of their grandmother. Sokka is highly protective of his sister and his sense of humor, riddled with puns and ill-timed sarcasm, is said to have been inherited from his father.
